| This hands-on, 4-day course introduces Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF or Avalon), the .NET technology from Microsoft for building rich Windows applications. The course uses many example programs and lab exercises that give students a firm foundation. It is current to .NET 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010. Although WPF is a complex technology, this course takes a practical approach to the subject. Students completing the course will gain an understanding of the philosophy and architecture of WPF and be able to:
Create rich Windows applications using the classes provided by WPF or using a combination of code and XAML (Extensible Application Markup Language);
Build flexible and attractive user interfaces with windows, menus, dialogs, toolbars, and other common features;
Use advanced features of WPF (including dependency properties, routed events, logical resources, styles, templates, and data binding); and
Access databases using both Visual Studio 2010 and the Entity Data Model.
