The top 10 list of programming languages which are highly in demand in 2014 is listed below in the order of popularity. These languages are identified from the TIOBE Programming Community index which consists of 20 top programming languages. TIOBE index is an indicator of the popularity of programming languages and is updated once in every month.  This index is calculated using multiple search engines, and the ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors.

10. Visual Basic .NET

With a rating of 1.86%, VB .NET starts off the top 10 league of programming languages. This language could be learnt from w3schools, msdn.microsoft etc. This framework is ideal for building webpages with CSS, JavaScript as well as HTML. It could be used for developing web forms, web pages as well as MVC.

9. JavaScript

JavaScript holds the ninth position in the list with a rating of 1.9%. This language could be learnt from codeschool, learn-js.org etc. This programming language is ideal for developing websites with animated web functions, as well as in game development.

5. C#

With 5.57% rating, C# also proves its place in fifth position of the top 10 programming languages. C sharp or C# is the general purpose language that combines the principles of C as well as C++ for developing various softwares in the windows platform. 4. C++
